2017 Exploder - This boat was stripped and completely rebuilt from the skeleton up, with a lot of help from Bruce Mahoney (thanks, Bruce). The paint was stripped, hulls were faired, and it was professionally painted. The tramp was replaced with a Dyneema/Kevlar Mahoney tramp. All of the control lines were replaced with 3-4 mm Dinghy Control and modernized to be continuous around the back corners of the tramp. The mainsheet and blocks have been upgraded. Traveler car was replaced last year. All small control blocks replaced with Harken flywheels or Ronstan micros. Everything is spliced dyneema wherever possible. All cleats replaced with new Harken micro cleats. The siding is custom fit Raptor deck super durable and basically guaranteed never to peel from the hull. The rudder locking mechanism was fortified to better support the rudders when they are up and lock securely when sailing. The exploder foiling boards have a small bit of wear on the trailing edges but are otherwise in great shape. The rudders are in excellent shape. Covers for the foils, custom stern chocks (I made these to be about 2x as thick as the stock chocks), and beach dolly included.
The trunks accepts either foiling boards or the exploder C-boards without any modifications. So this boat can be sailed as a classic or a foiler depending on the your preferences. I am including a like-new set of the Exploder C boards with the purchase. They are in perfect condition. Also included is a brand new set of Krantz dyneema standing rigging. I can also throw in a North Sails square top main and battens.
The boat is in great shape. IMO, it is a fast classic and a good entry-level foiler. I took a hiatus from the fleet for a few years and am looking to upgrade my platform as I get back into it. As you guys know, moving these boats is a jigsaw puzzle and I am anxious to find this boat a new home so I have room for a new one. So I am asking $6500 but would be willing to meet you somewhere lower if we can reach a deal before July.
Can add Hall stiff mast and boom for $1000. Ad and color pictures online at usaca.info under the classified section. https://usaca.info/classifieds Boat is located in CT CONTACT: Seth.herzon@yale.edu

1982 Hobie 18, great condition with MANY extras- $4000/ OBO
Looking to sell my 1982 Hobie 18 Catamaran. I bought this boat in Maine three years ago. The
boat was competitively raced until the mid 90's then placed in the owners garage where it was
meticulously stored until I purchased it. This boat was top of the line when it was raced and
shows in all the upgrades that were added to it. Since owning the boat I completely updated the
trailer with new lights, wiring, added Cat Trax cradles that pivot on the rear of the trailer and
new cradles to the front, and made a new door for the storage tube as well as added a hand winch
to help step the mast. As for the boat I replaced all the lines and upgraded some minor parts.
Rebuilt the roller furler drum for the jib. The boat includes harken blocks, original epo rudders
and the race sails that are still crisp due to proper storage, retractable hiking stick and a solid
trampoline. Replaced the trapeze wires with Can't Miss Rings and new bungies. The boat is a
blast to sail and is extremely fast on the water. Its small enough for the Manasquan reservoir, but
big enough to tackle the bay. Don't be discouraged that since the boat was made in 1982 and is
no longer in production that you cant find parts for it, Murray.com as well as the local Hobie
dealer can get you almost anything you may need. Yes the Hawaiian blue gel coat is faded due to
its age but all the fiberglass is perfect. I do have a title and registration for the boat.
